I do appreciate the work which went into this.

There are some sentences which have not been completed in Section 2 and there are some which contradict themselves especially with respect to due dates and particularly in Section 6.3.

It would be nice if the entire SOP was page numbered and not just each section – important for anyone who has a printed copy.

Section 3.1, paragraph 3 – appendices behind Section 3.10. There is no Section 3.10

Section 2.5 in general – assumes a level of knowledge above those who can reply to a Facebook post, barely do email and watch videos. In all parts, the high end programs are mentioned but none that are more budget friendly (www.canva.com, http://www.shutterstock.com, etc.).

Section 2.5 – paragraph titled Curate Content to be Found. Not sure what the heck this means and the verbiage does not make it much clearer.

Section 2.5 – Understanding Search Engines – websites, social media or both? Where is it done? How can SEO be maximized if I do not know where to do it?

Section 2.5 page 1 – website noted is http://www.texasvfw.org but the list of “things” is from the http://www.txvfw.org site.

Comrade, This is great feedback and we will look to make the appropriate corrections, additional clarifications and other updates while we are in a website transition process. The SOP will be a working document throughout the year with several updates planned and to address any feedback we receive at the Department.

    Teacher of the Year

There is a conflict, between what is on the form and what the SOP states

On the form who can nominate (from the form)

Who is Eligible? All current certified/licensed teachers in grades K-12 are eligible. Previous national VFW winners are ineligible. Nominations can be submitted by themselves, fellow teachers, supervisors, family members or other interested individuals.

    From the SOP

Nominations can be submitted by fellow teachers, supervisors, or other interested individuals. Nominations submitted by relatives or self are not eligible

    The SOP asks for this:

In 350 words or less, describe why you feel your nominee is deserving of the award. Be sure to describe the teacher’s innovative teaching and resource development methods, as well as his or her dedication to education.

This is not a requirement on the application, the application states

How are teachers nominated? Fill out the official entry form contained on the next page, and provide a one-page resume as a minimum or up to five pages as a maximum of documentation of their teaching experience (for example: resume, references, news articles, etc.) and a head-and-shoulder photo if available.

So will posts still be required to submit or have the individual submit a 350 essay in additional to.

    Scout of the Year

The post submissions are received and sent to Department by 3 Apr.

The District All State program states that: PROGRAM PARTICIPATION: Must be credited with participation in the Voice of Democracy,
Patriot’s Pen, Teacher of the Year, and Scout of the Year programs.

So if the Posts don’t have to submit the award to District, how does District get credit.

    Post Stand Down

    Points worksheet mentions suicide awareness.

Form does not mention suicide awareness and has a Sep 30 deadline.

    Additional All State Points Requirements:

It’s not clear on how to submit many such as OTS attendance, CAP, Digital Sign, etc…

Assuming an email memorandum for record with photo and meeting minute evidence will suffice.

Post Membership Goals includes “6. Conduct A Post Goals Meeting by September 30, 2023”.

I did not note this listed as All State Requirement or listed in points worksheet?

Post Membership Goals do not match All State Requirements and points worksheet.

    Goals:

    1. 102%

    2. 5% over last year’s total membership

    3. Retain 75%

    4. Convert 3 to Life

    5. Convert 1 to Legacy

    6. Conduct a Post Goal Meeting

    Post All State Requirements:

Membership…Each Post must have reached their membership of 102% ending on May 1, 2024 (these are the requirements).

    Points Worksheet:

    Retain 70%…

    Under Post All-State Requirements:

    All American Post is listed…

Must a Post achieve All American as a requirement for All-State?

    Feedback to department…

It would be wonderful for all comrades attending OTS to receive or be able to purchase a printed SOP. This would increase engagement during the training and allow Posts to begin planning while in attendance.
